The Plan For Church Multiplication

At the congregational meeting on June 19, 2018, we overwhelmingly affirmed the plan for church multiplication. In order to fulfil the vision for multiplying healthy churches both locally and globally, we need everyone to be involved.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Matt 28:19-20.

Jesus did not leave his followers behind without any marching orders, wondering what they were supposed to accomplish until he returned. Rather, the final verses of Matthew clearly show that the mission of the church, Northview included, is to make disciples.

There are 3 ways you can be involved.

Serve

We all have a variety of talents which are to be used to build up the church and glorify God. When some withhold their talents, the entire church suffers. Whether you attend in Abbotsford, Mission or Tri-City, whether your skills are hospitality, teaching, technical, music, cooking, or whatever, we urge you to play your part in the team.

PRAY

We believe the Lord loves his bride, the church and believe that God’s heart is for healthy disciples to be made in healthy local churches. However, we cannot possibly do this work apart from His empowering grace. We must pray for the Holy Spirit to move people towards Christ. We need to pray for God to raise up faithful and skilled workers who will lead these churches. We need to pray for wisdom and discernment as we move forward. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all we can ask or imagine.

GIVE

The reality is that church planting costs money. Our goal over the next 10 years is to raise $30M, but we have as our short term goal the raising of $8M by the end of December. This initial amount will help us jump into our plans.

  • We are aiming to have the building design phase completed for our Downes Road Campus and building permit application submitted by January. Out of a desire to be wise stewards, we have committed to raising 50% of the total estimated cost prior to starting construction. This will require us to raise approximately $7M.
  • We are planning to begin support for additional church planters in three key areas of the world where Gospel centered churches are virtually non-existent. In Turkey, Northern India, and the Mekong River area of Southeast Asia, we plan to plant up to 250 churches over the next 5 years. Our first 2 year commitment is $1M
  • We are launching our East Abbotsford campus October 7th (with a soft launch on September 16th) and even as we prepare for the beginning of this new campus, we are having important discussions regarding potential church plants in Maple Ridge and Langley. The opportunities before us in our area are exciting and much needed as we envision a genuine Gospel renewal in our day.

We are asking that every individual or family that calls Northview home to please complete a Pledge Card. On the card you can indicate your support for the vision and you can financially commit to it now and over the next three years. If you need some motivation, watch Jeff’s sermon on Five Characteristics of Godly Giving below. Additionally, we have an in-depth, four-part discussion about the Bible’s teaching on money and resources featuring Jeff, Kyle, Kristal, and Greg.

Five Characteristics of Godly Giving

You do know that whenever we talk in church about money, this is essentially what happens. I frequently see people nod, “Yeah that’s true, look it’s in the Bible – we read it. Mmm that’s true.” And then often we don’t do anything about it. It’s just a mental agreement. It’s more than just a good idea. One of the great temptations as we sit there and fold our arms and say “Yes, that’s absolutely true um for that guy over there, have you seen the size of his house?” This isn’t about him and his house, it’s about you, it’s about me! It’s more than just a good idea.
